call it photography or just plain photographs. shot the same way you would with a film SLR, i use my trusted and beloved D300 to do the same job like you would with film. i hate shooting like i've got a countless supply of exposures like most as it waters down the meaning of what photography really is. one reason to say THANKS to going to art school. pet hates: people who call themselves photographers when they really just do it as a hobby. NO, you are not a photographer.
the boom in digital photography has depleted the real meaning behind an actual photographer. just because one can afford to buy fancy photography equipment, it doesn't make you a photographer. sometimes, i wonder - like everything else ie. sports. does buying the most fancy sports equipment make you a better sportsman/woman? NO. it's not the equipment that makes the person, it's the person that makes the equipment. I know famous photographers who use a dinky mickey mouse type camera and produce the same works they would on a piece of professional kit. i reckon people just need to know that in order to be good at what you do, you've got to know what you're doing and not rely heavily on photoediting software to make your photographs look good. no?
>>22nd July 2010
today is the launch of the TRT project. it was very successful, so congrats to GT@OC for the successful launch, and to us for all the time and effort put in to make sure everything looked pretty and nice; especially the inpromptu invite design that we did onsite. it was held at the Dalston Barn, just opposite Dalston Junction Station by the mural. it went really well and we were chuffed that loads of people turned up for the opening. perhaps, it's more like the smell of the Jerk chicken wafting through the air that lured people in, but the Hackney youth seemed to enjoy themselves!

>>25th July 2010
after visiting the location of The Dalston Barn Residency, i&f was commissioned by the OC to illustrate a mural for the Dalston Barn as part of its' commitment to developing the youth in collaboration with art and design. pretty funky stuff - awesome youngins. we love it!

branding workshop @ OC and GT, it was pretty fun but teaching others how to use editing tools like illustrator is a little tricky. Note to self (and everyone else): one day's work is not enough to teach someone how to use basic illustrator.

unbelievable! touched down at London City Airport and it's awesome how London has changed so much in such a short time since I was here last, which was a good 3 months ago. perhaps it's not too long for most people when it comes to visiting a city however it's a work/holiday 2 months in London this time. hello London! I have missed you. As I stepped out of the arrival gates with my luggage, I notice a refurbished waiting lounge. EAT is not there anymore and has been replaced by Prêt. it's amazing how consumerism has taken over all the public spaces. couldn't we just stick to having home ran cafs, or just lovely diners without a pretentious edge to it? i am a tad agreeable to Prêt's pain au chocolat and classic super chicken sandwich, however I do reckon, after a while - the novelty wears off. how can an ethical store remain ethical when it's killing off all competition? this is what I don't get. does ethical include the killer instict to want to earn more money - does ethical mean that eventhough McDonald's is the owner of Prêt, that Prêt actually remains an ethical company? surely the dirty money that McDonald's has earned throughout the years is an indication that Prêt actually isn't that ethical anymore and sold its' soul to a large conglomerate?

fantastic news! Off Centre's identity is finally on the way to a fantastic start. after many months of toiling away and burning the midnight oil and having to purchase a lot of new equipment because we overtaxed our beloved Dan (the PowerBook G4) who, is a star because he has stuck with us for 8 years! Off Centre AND The Right Track programme looks awesome. Without the support from GT@OC and all the other members of staff, we wouldn't have gotten here!
Off Centre is a Youth Development Charity based in Hackney, London that give our youngins a chance to aspire to have a better life. Helping to instill good values and helping troubled youth find themselves, this charity is a fantastic chance for the youngins to build a better core foundation. this is the reason why igor&frankie is here; to develop and to design for people who deserve good design without having to sell their souls to get it.
Excerpt taken from their new branding & identity guidelines: "The logo was named after Japanese Manga Hit, Speed Racer which was originally named Mach Go Go Go in 1966 before being dubbed in English as Speed Racer. Using racing stripes as a starting point, the logo for Off Centre was designed by using a perfect circle and then expanded into the racing stripes and then morphed into the letter "C". The logo is meant to represent the youth and the speed at which they grow. As they deal with peer pressure and changes within, this logo represents the youth they can still keep."
TRT's project identity is based on the Paperdolls and Stickerbooks. Remember McLoughlin Brother's Paperdolls that started up around the early 1800s? Of course not! However, as printing developed and adhesive backed papers and technology developed, we come to developing Barbie stickers and car stickers to look like a race car driver or iconic Herbie. This project identity was created to be something the youth can use to design like a "digital collage" to develop their own postcards, brochures and more.
here is a sneak preview of what we've done for the OC and TRT! To support, you can check them out on facebook too.

it was the opening of BAD@MapKL and igor&frankie was invited to participate. amazing news! and amazing works for that night. we sold our piece within minutes of the exhibition's opening night! here are photos of what we did - a restored piece of furniture that was reupholstered with i&f's favourite fabric, and a lot of sanding down and oiling.

>>6th May 2010
jin of igor&frankie will be in London from the 10th of June 2010 for at least two weeks. get in touch with her at jin@igorandfrankie.co.uk to buy our ethical and big favourite, handmade. home marinade. place orders for t-shirts OR buy our handmade skirts. we're giving camp5 first dibs on the skirts so photos of what we have kept aside for London will be posted soon!
stonk! begone has earned a place in the favourable product for natural fresheners and dehumidiers. AWESOME! they're being tested at a "super secret facility" and perhaps if it all works out we'll see it on a more commercial basis all around Malaysia.
>>1st May 2010
sad news all, we've had to put production to a complete halt for Sticky's t-shirts. perhaps we will have it as a collector's item for later but because of the riots in Bangkok, we've had to stop production in light of the situation. it was more important to make sure everyone is safe and sound rather than have some accidents along the way. so, an executive decision was made to avoid having any mishaps. we would rather not produce our t-shirts than lose a lot of money trying to recover from anything we could potentially lose.
on a more positive note, after the successful mapKL Arts Festival in March, igor&frankie has been asked to do something for another upcoming exhibition. currently untitled, this exhibition will be featuring restored pieces of furniture. we're restoring a very cool old telephone table with a seat. it's very cool and if only we could keep it for ourselves, we would. it will be on sale during the exhibition.
this marks the transition of our infancy taking part in something creative as an arts collective to a more regular thing. stay in touch for updates!
>>14th April 2010
unbelievable! the riots in bangkok has completely destroyed our hopes of getting the 1000miles t-shirts ready in time for Sticky. what other doomsday type things are going to happen next? yikes. so much for forward planning!
on a slightly more positive note, we've finally started making our labels and we are testing them on our t-shirts@camp5! click on the thumbnails to view photos we've posted of the t-shirts with the tags!

we are also manufacturing 38 tins of igor&frankie's handmade home marinade. for a special order done in 100g stainless steel air tight containers for an upcoming event! very awesome as we're quite excited about with the outcome! the stainless steel jars are sourced from a little shop tucked away in Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown! handcarried by our close friend, SB and ourselves, those 100g steel jars were quite an awkward size to carry around town by hand. here they are on my worktop.

>>5th April 2010
photographs as promised, of the installation "it's nice to know that i'm loved" that's currently on display at mapKL.

>>30th March 2010
top of the agenda, the response for MAPKL was great! kudos to the organising team! congratulations to everyone for their hard work and effort. we enjoyed ourselves!
secondly, Fontainebleu. i&f is planning to head there in summer to get some inspiration for the new t-shirts. Can't help but love the place. If anyone is interested in submitting their favourite climbing photo in Font, e-mail us at jibberjabber@igorandfrankie.co.uk. We'll post it in our play time section of the awesome new website.
on another note, we're cracking on with SIBL's new comp t-shirts. we're hoping for it to come out awesome, edgy and street. if anyone has any ideas also, please e-mail us or drop us a message on twitter or facebook!
last rant of the day: our hosting provider is awesome. it took us less than 5 seconds to get our updates done and it only took one click on the refresh button to update unlike other service providers we've tested. thumbs up for their fantastic service and their great value. they're saving a planet one server at a time; how about considering them in the future?
finally; we have also updated the promise part of our website. talking about our suppliers, service providers, etc. fab stuff>>27th March 2010
two things on the agenda today. the official setting up of i&f online! after much talk and ranting about how the websites taking forever to be compiled and set up, it is here! suggestions? e-mail us at jibberjabber@igorandfrankie.co.uk. we'd love to hear what you'd have to say. some parts are still under construction but everything will be up and running as soon as!
on another note...
today is the opening of MAPKL's arts festival. Yee I-Lann, Rice Above, Bernice Chauly and many other amazing talents are amongst those being featured in the festival. Come check it out at Solaris Dutamas in Kuala Lumpur. Starts from 2pm-midnight today and tomorrow. Hishamuddin Rais (our beloved formerly exiled Malaysian film director and performing aratist) is doing a stand-up comedy which received excellent reviews! check it out all!
>>26th March 2010
it's been ages since we've been talking about getting the website up. finally! it's here! can you imagine that? it has been a long time coming but it's finally up. of course there will be kinks here and there including some awkward missing links but at least we've got something operational!
it is the day before the MAPKL Arts Festival. Some friends and i will be meeting at a friend's american contemporary diner, Pink Sage for some evening nosh before heading to the festival.
<<the pressure is on as today, i will be putting up the finishing touches to the installation. i'll be posting up photos later but i'm pretty much worried about the feedback. some love it, some think the" theatrical look" is redundant. i think it looks fantabulous but i'm just the artist. of course the artist thinks it's fab, otherwise, why would i be doing it?>>
>>24th March 2010
we have decided on our webhosting provider! we've chosen Super Green Hosting as our service provider for our website. after much research, they still win hands down. 100% carbon neutral, energy efficient servers and more. fabulous. we get to go online without destroying the environment. BONUS!
on another note, have you guys pre-ordered your 1000 miles t-shirt. printing will start in the next week or so. pre-ordering guarantees you will get your t-shirt to your liking!
>>22nd March 2010
the website looks like it's coming together well. so much to be done still but the website has a definite look to it now. finally! we have taken off! after being set up for almost a year, the website finally looks like what it should be. it took forever to get round to it, but this is it! the outcome is an amazing website that is simple to navigate without any confusion.
another cool update, we will be appearing in the mapKL Arts Festival that's opening on the 27th of March 2010. this two-day arts festival is just another way for us to show our support for the local Malaysian art scene. MAP is Kuala Lumpur's New Arts Platform and will feature Malaysia's array of upcoming and seasoned artists.
to find out more, check out MAP's website at www.mapkl.org.
>>18th March 2010

Changes to our ethical business. Unfortunately, production costs have gone through the roof. This doesn't bode well with our trying to cut the middle man out and charge reasonable prices for high-quality handmade products. However, let us not fret and try accepting it as things come along. We are absorbing the rising costs of production but if it goes up any higher, we might need to reprice our products.
